More on the Incredible 90s
This week I want you to simply contemplate the invention of the Light Sabre used in every Star Wars film and by every child that watched Star Wars on TV and video since birth. No the light sabre was not invented in the 90s, however every 90s child owned one. None of this plastic, flips out all weird and lights up thing from Kmart. We had the real light sabres. Cardboard rolls out of the Christmas paper primarily, but any long, cylindrical object tended to surfice. And no one wanted a red one cos no one wanted to be Darth Vader. He was too scary.
Why is it no sci fi film since then has invented such a phenomenon? What is so fascinating about light that makes a cool noise when it moves and gives people a dramatic yet bloodless death? How come I don't have a light sabre anymore?
Your thoughts are valued.

Well, I know that I used to excel at light sabre fights. Of course, my only opponent was only ever Carl, and we all know he is weak oppostion compared to my superior skills. My training as a ninja was worthwhile. As christmas time comes around, I shall save some sabres, to enable us to have a gathering to prove our light sabre skills!
Dont you simply miss the 90's? They were THE best
And light sabres are so facinating because a) they're bright b) they glow c) theyre just so cool! and they are just so easy to transport, due to their inbuild mechanism to make the light 'retract' I mean.. without that mechanism, imagine how many accidents there would be? but its so good.. cause you could carry it in your pocket, and bingo! when a dark person appears, INSTANT LIGHT SABRE!
i always wanted a red lightsabre. that was until i saw darth vader turn good and die. i realised then that blue (the colour of good) is better. coz although evil is fun, good is better. but i never wanted a green one, coz green little yodas creeped me out. i was scared of old people, and him being 900 and something was too much to handle. i miss the days when anakin skywalker = death and fear, not pansy little bad actor kids. ahh....star wars. i love that trilogy. and it is ONLY a trilogy, episodes 1-3 dont count for NOTHING.
8 MILLION BABIES!!!
I too have often pondered the Light Sabre Phenomenon. Every send up movie with a fighting scene uses light sabres. They were also used in UniWars by a past Student Lifer. Heck, I've even used them in my movies despite trying to be original.
You can actually buy a plasma sabre here, no joke.
I wish I could create an idea as original as a light sabre that would catch on so well.
And I agree with you ponyb. Star Wars is a brilliant trilogy, and as for episodes 1-3... what were they about again?
Star wars
a bunch of movies that started a space revolution i was watching a doco on discovery planet ta other day and the show was called "inventions created on things in star wars" or sumthing like that, theyve been trying to actually make light sabres however they decide to go down the path of lasers instead of purified light, but isnt laser light anyway? i dunno but they are buildin wicked cool weapons from those in star wars, and i realise that im rambling anyway l8a
Harry.
